Advent Shop

Well, itís that most wonderful time of the year again. This year, to help you celebrate Christmas more fairly, the Business Studies class is opening a pop-up advent shop. We will be selling different advent calendars, Christmas cards and some amazing candles. All profit will go to helping our Year 10s fly off to Romania at Easter. Here is what we are selling.

The Reverse Calendar £3.

This is an amazing Christmas item that allows you give back directly into your community. This calendar, like any other, has 24 slots but instead of receiving a chocolate you put something in - like a packet of biscuits or a can of baked beans - and at Christmas you donate all those items to your local foodbank. If you order one of these, we will source the box, cover it in festive paper and make the dividers. This is quite a time-consuming job - trust us - but we will do it all for you!

The Divine Calendar £4

This spectacular calendar by chocolatier Divine ensures that your money is going to the producers and suppliers of this delicious chocolate, in this case a cooperative of women cocoa farmers in Ghana. Buying this fabulous calendar ensures that everybody making this chocolate gets a fair share.

The Real Advent Calendar £4

Our next calendar - the Real Advent Calendar is designed to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas so that Christ is not written out of Christmas. As well as fair trade chocolate, this amazing calendar comes with a complimentary 28 page Christmas story activity for the younger ones, beautifully illustrated by award winning artist Alida Massari. Itís a great way for all the family to share in the Christmas story. Plus for every purchase you make, the company makes a donation to the Funzi and Bodo Trust (which improves the quality of life in Kenya).

Names of Jesus Advent Candles £5

Traditionally Christmas has been a time (if you go back far enough in history) for reflection and self evaluation. These stunning candles have 25 names of Jesus inscribed on them, allow you to reflect on each title of Jesus as you countdown to Christmas. Each of these delicately designed ivory and gold candles is truly a thing of beauty.

Traidcraft Christmas Cards

We will have a range of Christmas cards for you to choose from, including these Radiant Christmas cards and the Christmas Windows cards with Bible verse. Each pack contains 20 cards and costs £5.

We will be taking orders for advent calendars and candles in the playground after school on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 14th December or you can fill the online form sent to you by email. And you can also order any cards from the catalogue at the same time. So there you have it - all you need to make it a fairer and more meaningful Christmas this year!
